Remember the 96

Posted by Matt on April 17, 2009 | Share It

Compare hearing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” in a packed, emotional 45,000 full Anfield, and having it played at Aggborough’s empty 7,000 surroundings and you couldn’t get much more different.

But it didn’t stop me getting Goosebumbs when the song was played out gently during a ‘silence’ before the Youth Team game at Aggborough this week. When you consider what the silence was for and all of the emotional connotations of the song itself, you’d have to be a fool to not feel something.

Just goes to show that whilst Liverpool mourns the most for the 96, it will always be a tragedy for the game of football first and foremost, and we all feel it. I was only a baby at the time of Hillsborough but it still touches you – football fans worldwide are all one big family in that sense.

RIP to them, and here’s hoping that we all indeed never forget.

Talking Sport

Posted by Matt on April 17, 2009 | Share It

Have been listening a lot to TalkSport just recently. There was a year or two back in 1999/2000 where I used to love listening to it of a night time, particularly Sunday night’s ‘Human Zoo’ with Tommy Boyd.

Stopped listening soon after that started to go down the pan, but have recently started up again, namely in the car to and from work. Not sure if this is a good thing, because the morning programme usually featuring a debate of some kind always gets me shouting at the radio whilst behind the wheel, whereas Ian Wright most afternoons just kills me laughing on the way home.

Definitely good stuff though!
