EH??

Posted by Matt on September 26, 2008 | Share It

Let’s face it, we all new Newcastle were a mess. Before this season started, we knew that. They’ve been a crisis club for years now, but not even I thought things could get this bad.

The loyal 50k+ fanbase have had enough - so much so that the League Cup gate at St. James’ was 19k the other night… They want Keegan back and they want Ashley out. Ashley has had enough and as such will sell to anyone who will make an offer.

But I can’t help but feel that the latest news is him tacking the piss out of the Newcastle fans who have sickeningly threatened him and his family: JOE KINNEAR is the new interim Manager. Ehh?? Where did that one come from?

I mean sure, he’s managed Wimbledon, Notts Forest and Luton - but he’s not sat in a dug-out in over four years - who the hell suggested him as a possible solution? Even it is only temporary to the extreme. I can’t think this is the way forward and I feel for the decent Toon fans who by now much just be in despair.

Mind you, just watch, he’ll get results now and end up there in the job for good. Wouldn’t that be fun??

About Time!

Posted by Matt on September 26, 2008 | Share It

Well, how long did that take? After the best part (on and off) of three years and around about £5,000 in lessons, I’ve finally past my driving test. And first time, too!

I don’t know whether it’s the nerves, relief or just the intensity of the 40 minute test this morning, but I felt absolutely drained afterwards. Once I knew the result I just felt it drain out of me.. But I’m glad! And everyone, to be fair, has been brill. I’ve taken a lot of stick about how long it’s taken me, but when it comes to the fact that even opposite numbers at other football clubs are chuffed for me, I must have done okay!

Now then, out in to the big, open roads. By myself.

Hmm.

What An Account…

It’s been a good while since I got stuck into a good book. A really good book that I just couldn’t put down, and would make time to actually read.

It’s a nice change to say that I’m reading such a book at the moment - Into the Darkness, An Account of 7/7 is Peter Zimonic’s fantastic first-hand account of the events that unfolded on the morning of July 7 2005 in London.  It’s well-written, as you’d expect of a journalist but the personal edge to it so powerful, hardly surprising considering what he and those around him went through.

Most certainly recommended by me if you get a chance to pick up a copy.

How Many Goals?

Posted by Matt on September 12, 2008 | Share It

Thought I’d give this a plug for my old pal Mat Kendo, who I think you’ll agree should probably stick to the day job!

A most amusing watch, I think you’ll agree though.

Wayne Rooney - how many goals has he scored in the last two years for Engald……….?

……… Not many, I can tell you that!

Superb.
