Keep It In The Family

It’s weird really, how football involves and brings together one big family. Almost all of the time we (fans) hate one another and spend most of our time together goading and taunting one another and chanting obscenities, but when all’s said and done, we’re all in it together, really.
Take Alan Ball for instance. I was sorry he died and posted as much here the other day but, in all honesty, Harriers and Crawley, in terms of football, shouldn’t really care a jot about it, not because we’re heartless but because there’s no connection there. But when it came to giving thanks for what he gave us and the game, we all stood without question and applauded together, be it the 1,600 in West Sussex yesterday or the 45,000 in Sunderland on Sunday night. I remember feeling upset when Wycombe’s youngster Philo died a fair while ago now… Can’t explain why, must be just that connection.
Crawley for example, it was horrible watching them get barracked by their home supporters yesterday for not shooting all the time, i was pleased they stopped up, and in turn our players got a round of applause from their fans when their announcer wished us all the best at Wem-ber-lee… Weird how it works.
Incoming…….!

I have to admit, I’ve never liked Hugh Grant, always thought he was a bit crap.
But I have to admit I sympathize with him now, or at least think he’s hilarious, and not in a great way. After being hassled and hounded by the Paps, he finally released all of his rage and launched a scathing attack of epic proportions on a photographer.
He killed a man then, right? Maybe he started foaming at the mouth in a frenzied moment of madness? No, no. In true Hugh Grant style, he chucked a tub of baked beans at him and made “upsetting remarks” about the guy’s family.
He was ironically enough questioned at Notting Hill Police Station.
Rape, pillage and murder? Nothing. Assault by baked beans? arrest and questioning. That’s the system, baby!
A Proper Player!

Real shame this one - Alan Ball died this morning as you’ve probably heard before getting here. Shows my age that I only really remember him as the Manchester City manager - hardly his highest accolade or best work, but I remember him well. I was certainly shocked to hear he’s dead, especially given the contribution he gave to the World Cup Winning side of 1966 - we certainly won’t get another side to win that Cup so it makes him even more of an elitle group.
A bit bizzare to hear that he had a heart-attack after watching the ManYoo game last night and then tackling a bonfire, but I suppose a player like that was always going to go in style.
The current lot have got nothing on that bunch. RIP, Bally; wish I could have seen you play!
The..Cat..Sat..On..The…Mat

Well how bloody annoying? Chelsea finally get to all but shut the gap on Man United and they go and blow it.
I won’t deny it; I like Chelsea, and hate Manchester United. I like the Chelsea players, I like the Chelsea Manager and I like what they stand for the fact being that you can’t by team spirit.. On the other hand, I hate the Manchester United players (except Ole), I hate the Manchester United Manager and certainly hate everything they stand for.
Rio Ferdinand is the most over-rated player in the history of the world, so it was to my delight that he was totally and utterly at fault for Middlesbrough’s goal on Saturday. They drop two points so Chelsea get to seize the moment and yet they go and do exactly the same! Ridiculous.
Still backing Chelsea to be winning the title though.
I Kill You, Knut…

Awful, poor Knut. Not only does our little buddy have to cut short his daily public show-off because he’s all poorly, someone has actually threatened to kill him!
The baby beast in Berlin received a hand-written death-threat and now has his own entourage for 15 bodyguards. Prominent figures get this thing often, they say. Knut, what a celebrity you are. He isn’t dead by the way, he’s very much alive and just feeling a bit unwell.
Shame on anyone who wants him dead. Those Animal Rights Activists, perhaps. Talk about hypocrisy!
